Melanie Allred!!

Okay, this is sort of lame but I have been trying to post a comment on your blog now for weeks and it won't work. I don't want to be the lame friend who looks all the time but never leaves a comment.....especially since I posted about that very thing in a not so nice way previously. So instead of commenting on your blog for your eyes only, I am commenting on mine for everyone else to read. Cute pictures, you look great and I do wish that we could run together.

my first 5k

I have always been interested in running, but kids and life have made those thoughts...just thoughts. More recently have I had the opportunity to get something going for my self. I haven't been running long(maybe 2 months)and at first it was only 15 minutes to build up my running endurance. Plus, Todd leaves at 6 for work and if I want to go in the morning I have to do it before he leaves. The only thing was...that I had to get up at 5 which isn't too early but it is still dark here. It doesn't start to get light until 5:45-6:00. Todd leaves at 5:45 so to atleast get some time in and not have it too dark, I would run 15 minutes from 5:20-5:35-ish. It felt good but I am super paranoid and really hated running down a dark street by myself. I could just picture my story on Unsolved Mysteries or The First 48. Needless to say that my efforts were not as great as I wanted them to be...but they were still happening. Luckily for me and unluckily for any criminal who had other ideas, my friends had been running early mornings for quite a few months now. I decided to join them when I felt that I could keep up. Most mornings I can go with them, it just depends on when someone elses husband has to leave for work. If he doesn't have to go too early then they run later so that they can sleep in. They don't invite me those days because they want to sleep....which is fine with me since they are nice to let me tag along. Anyway, they were doing a 5k in Kamas, UT, which is up the canyon a bit and invited me to do it too. I realize that 5k is not that long but I was way excited and a bit nervous too. I didn't know what to expect. It was pretty low key with probably only 30 runners, which was perfect for me. I had a great time and pushed myself a little just to get an idea of what I could do. I made it in 28:27 and since there were so few there I got 3rd place in my division. What an awesome way to leave my first race. I really loved it and hope that I will be able to squeeze in as many runs as possible.

Island Park,ID

Island Park,ID

Our awesome cabin trip.

I love to camp! I love cabins even more...especially with little kids that make camping slightly difficult. Our neighbors invite us to their cabin in Island Park,ID for the weekend and we had so much fun. Luckily the daughter is our regular babysitter that the girls adore so that was a bonus.

Fish on!

A couple of weeks ago we were able to go to Island Park,ID with our good friends the Brandleys. They are the ones who have gotten us started on fly fishing. Hence, the awesome hat that Todd is wearing. We were able to fish on two different days. The first day didn't go so well for me...I only caught a tiny, tiny fish(not the one pictured, that was another awesome catch). The next day was much better. I probably brought in 5-ish and lost about 3. It was really fun! I could do that all the time.We will definitely be planning more days out on the river.
