Pretty Patriots

Happy 4th of July!!

This year, like last year we decided to visit our friends in Idaho. We had a great time at the parade. There is nothing as fun as watching a parade with a bunch of Latin women. They know how to have a good time. There was dancing and cheering and you better believe Morgan was at the top of it. She loves to shake those hips. It must be that south Texas blood in her. After the parade we were invited to eat at this really awesome backyard BBQ. It was the prettiest backyard I have ever seen with a buffet of delicious food. Thank you to the Hosts! It was a really fun day and a great reminder to all of us of the freedoms that we enjoy.

We got a new computer and we haven't moved our pictures over. So, instead of all of the other great ones that I have big plans for on this blog, we get the slim pickin's of the most recently downloaded. Enjoy!

Again?? Come on, Morgan!

We decided to go on a long overdue date. Typically we go every weekend or so, but lately we had too many other things going on. I wasn't going to delay any longer. We got our babysitter and were off. After a lovely evening of dinner and a movie we arrived at home. Grateful that the kids were in bed and we didn't have to go through the whole routine. While I was driving the babysitter home she informed me that Morgan had cut her hair. This is not the first time that this has happened, but it has been at least two years since the other TWO instances took place. I thought we had taken every precaution and driven every point home. I was vigilant in emphasizing how we go to the salon to have our hair cut by the stylist. "Not even Mommy cuts yours or her hair!!" I would have them repeat after me. After two years of that you would think that Morgan would understand the concept.....oh, she understands alright. It isn't about making a mistake. She knew perfectly well what se was doing. She wanted hair like Mommy. Plus, she was mad at us when we left on a date without her. SO out of spite and pure desire to have her hair cut, Morgan did the deed. Luckily it wasn't to the scalp or anything, but she did lose inches. Also her bangs are shorter on the top layer. Unfortunately for our babysitter it happened when he was here. Luckily for her, her Mom is a stylist and she picked Morgan up and took her home for a hair cut. So I was left with a daughter with shorter hair but I wasn't left with having to get it fixed.

T-Ball

We have enrolled Rieley and Morgan in T-Ball to develop some of their skills, test the waters of different activities and help them build their confidence. On the first day Morgan got hit in the chest with the ball and no longer wants to play. That's progress. Rieley has been doing really well and building her confidence a little too much. No, she's doing great and she really has some talent. Morgan is good too if only she'd try a little more and didn't lose interest...or get hit with the ball on the first day. It is fun. Now if only the weather would reach above freezing on game days and be in the 70's like all the other days.

Me and baby Devyn

There is no doubt that these girls LOVE their little sister. Although it tends to be mostly irritating for me, I am very glad that they adore her. Devyn will always be taken care of(while getting dropped and hurt in the process). What can you do??

Morgan's 5th Birthday!!

Today was a momentous day.....Morgan turned 5. I remember the day I turned five. I can still picture exactly in my mind how when the head start bus driver picked me up I was sure to raise my tiny hand, spreading wide my little fingers, telling her,"I'm five today." All before even getting on the bus. I was excited and today Morgan was too. She even got up a little earlier than usual. Rieley also got up early, even earlier than Morgan, but her motives were different. It wasn't her birthday, but she wanted to help decorate the house for Morgan. She has always been so sweet like that. For my birthday she made Todd wake her up after I "fell asleep" so that she could decorate. Too bad she couldn't even stand up so Todd put her back to bed.

Back to Morgan...since it was her day and all. She had a great day! She was saying,"I can't believe I am already 5". We had a party for her at the park in the afternoon. It rained hard a lot of the day but stopped, mostly, during her party. It was still fun and lots of friends came. Grandma Linda even drove up from Moroni. I think it was a success. Now time to clean up and find more places to put the new toys.
